Salt City Enterprises, Syracuse, New York - After the client was proposed a $12,000+ investigation followed by potential remediation for a site in Syracuse, New York, ASE was retained to evaluate the Site. ASE worked with the regulator to open a spill incident for the site, then presented a standards and risk-based case to the regulator to attain closure of the site at a savings to the client of over $10,000.
KeyBank, Syracuse, New York - To support fast track redevelopment of a site in Syracuse, New York, ASE removed a hydraulic lift and a limited volume of soil previously indicated to be contaminated. ASE documented removal and collected post-excavation samples with an eye toward eventual closure of the spill record that had previously been opened for the site. Following removal and initiation of redevelopment of the Site, ASE successfully petitioned the regulator for closure of the site.
TCE Site, Crowland, United Kingdom - ASE served as a subconsultant to evaluate remediation alternatives for a site in Norfolk, UK where soil and groundwater are contaminated with TCE. Instead of the costly (and potentially risky from a public and worker health standpoint) removal envisioned by the UK consultant, ASE prepared a Remedial Options Analysis (ROA) and Conceptual Remediation Plan that proposed the far less costly and far more protective alternative of in-situ phytoremediation of soil and groundwater. It is anticipated implementation of the technology will begin in the Summer of 2008.
