Kyle E. Thomas, P.E., Principal of ASE, passed the LEED Accreditation Exam on April 3, 2008 and is now a LEED Accredited Professional (AP) and is thus qualified to serve as the LEED AP on Green Building projects seeking certification through the U.S. Green Building Council. 

In December 2007, the American Institute of Architects (AIA) added sustainability goals to the code of ethics governing member conduct. Among the goals are those relating to sustainable design and sustainable develoment. AIA's 2007 contract forms also require architects to address the feasibility of incorporating environmentally responsible design approaches.

Kyle E. Thomas, P.E., Principal of ASE, and Wendy A. Marsh, Partner of Hancock & Estabrook, LLP, have written Phase I Environmental Site Assessments - What are your responsibilities in regards to the new Phase I Environmental Site Assessment standards? ,
a Feature Article in the May 2007 issue (Vol. 3, Issue 11) of Northeast Real Estate Business. The article addresses the new requirements on the part of "Users" of environmental site assessments under the new standards that became effective in November 2006. Northeast Real Estate Business covers the latest news, developments and trends in commercial real estate in the northeastern states.

On November 8, 2006 Kyle E. Thomas, P.E., Principal of ASE, presented "A Visual MODFLOW and MT3D Model to Support Remediation of Petroleum Contamination Site Using In-Situ Chemical Oxidation" at the National Groundwater Association 2006 Petroleum Hydrocarbons and Organic Chemicals in Groundwater: Prevention, Assessment, and Remediation Conference in Houston, Texas.

On October 23, 2006 Dr. Theodore Endreny (SUNY ESF) and  Kyle E. Thomas, P.E., Principal of ASE, presented "Improving Transportation Area Estimates in the NLCD Using Vector Road Networks" at the 22nd New York State GIS Conference 2006. Lake Placid, New York.
